The Picudo Rojo (Red palm weevil infection ) is a big problem for our palm trees. Remote sensing could be a great tool to detect it.
We are very pleased to participate in this project by data contributing captured by our drones. RGB, multispectral and thermographic images.
This will be the basis of the remote sensing tasks carried out by VITO – Remote Sensing (https://remotesensing.vito.be/case/palmwatch) and Estación Phoenix (http://estacionphoenix.es/…/proyectos-investigaciones…).
The PALMWATCH PROJECT will investigate whether detection of red palm weevil infestation is feasible using airborne, spaceborne and drones remote sensing (RS) techniques.
The project is financed by BELSPO: The Belgian Federal Science Policy Office, known by the acronym BELSPO, is the federal government body responsible for research policy in Belgium.
It designs and implements research programmes and networks and manages the participation of Belgium in European and international organisations. (https://eo.belspo.be/…/red-palm-weevil-infection…)
